Boho Living Room Makeover

Our Minimalist Cozy Boho Bedroom Reveal

It’s reveal day, and after months of planning, DIYs, sourcing, and styling, I’m excited to share our minimalist cozy boho bedroom, completed for the Fall 2019 One Room Challenge. This space features neutral textures, terracotta pillows, boho greenery, brass wall sconces, and layered bedding. I wanted our guest room to feel clean and minimal, yet warm and welcoming at the same time.

Before the Makeover

To begin, let’s take a quick look back at this bedroom before the makeover. There was nothing awful about our guest room before, but it lacked coziness and character, and just did not fit my style. Additionally, it really needed a headboard, rug, and window treatments.

From Meh to Warm and Inviting

I loved putting together my mood board and imagining simple and budget-friendly ways to transform this space from meh to warm and inviting. For example, I wanted to incorporate cozy texture, earth tones, and natural elements like raw wood and greenery. In retrospect, I can see how the fall season influenced me throughout the design process.

And now, without further ado, here is our guest room reveal. Keep reading for some side-by-side before and afters, as well as product info. I can hardly believe this is the same room. We are so happy with the transformation, and can’t wait to have family come stay for the holidays.

Earth Tones and Cozy Textures

This cozy boho bedroom reflects my love of fall with warm and earthy tones – brass, rust, charcoal, olive, and cozy textures. I did not set out to create an autumn bedroom, but it turned out that way, and I just love it. From a design perspective, the guest room is now much more balanced and visually interesting. For example, modern frames and cozy boho pillows and baskets contrast the more traditional elements like the tufted headboard, charcoal nightstands, and brass sconces. Finally, a vintage-style rug adds character, and the layered bedding looks so much more inviting.

Design Process

This was my first time planning, sourcing, and styling a whole room, and I enjoyed the process so much. If you are thinking of taking part in the One Room Challenge, I highly recommend it.
